When reaching or lifting becomes a question

Shoulder discomfort is often noticed through an activity: dressing, reaching a shelf, working or taking part in sport. Those examples can make your first conversation more useful.

Describe the movement, not an assumed diagnosis

Explain which tasks are difficult, when the change started and any relevant injury or previous care. A service finder cannot tell whether a tendon, joint or another structure explains your symptoms.

Ask how the assessment guides the next step

A clinician should explain the proposed examination and what it may help clarify. Discuss existing advice and ask whether further medical assessment is appropriate.

Make the plan understandable

Ask what the suggested approach is intended to change, which activities are being discussed and how progress will be reviewed. The website cannot determine whether you need imaging, an injection or surgery.
